For each app you want to publish to the App Store, you need to create an App Store record. In this episode, you’ll learn how to

Log into App Store Connect.

Fill out any agreements you are presented with.

Define User roles for your team.

Create a basic App Store record. In the next episode you’ll fill out some of the finer details for the record. Let’s look at this in a demo.

Demo

To get started, open the developer portal and login. You’ll see a link directly to App store Connect. Click the button and you’ll be taken to the site. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be taken to a very simple dashboard. Alternatively, you can go to appstoreconnect.apple.com in your browser.

If this is the first time using App Store Connect, click the Agreements, Tax and Banking button. Here you will be presented various agreements to sign as well as sections to provide your tax and banking information. Make sure to confirm your agreements and fill out any required information.

Return back to the dashboard and click the User and Access button. Here you can add more users to your account. The roles are listed on the left hand side. Clicking on the plus sign will create a user. You can also create sandbox users which is useful for testing in app purchases.

Now to create an app. Return to the dashboard and click the My Apps button. Right now, I have a few test apps listed. If you delete apps, you can still view them. Click the All Statuses button and you can select Removed Apps.

Now click the plus sign to create a new app. Next, select iOS as the platform and give it a name. Our app will be call The Kodeco Top 10. Names are unique so make sure to see if a name is available before you make your app.

Then fill out the remaining fields.

The bundle ID must match the same one you used in Xcode, and it can’t be changed once you upload your first build.

The SKU is an internal, unique identifier for your app that is not visible on the App Store.

The User Access determine what roles have access to the app. Give it full access.

When you have everything filled out, and the information is correct, click Create. We’ll fill out the metadata for the app in the next episode.
