Notes: 27. Conclusion
Check out the next course on our Android and Kotlin for Beginners Learning Path!
Congratulations!!!
You have just completed all the must haves programming todos for your first Android app. Bullseye is now fully playable and has the core features built into it.
We now have a Minimum Viable Product (or MVP for short) that we could ship or send out to some testers for feedback. It has been quite a journey to get to this point – if you’re new to programming, you’ve had to get a lot of new concepts into your head.
You learned the basics of Android development, including concepts like
- building UIs with Composable functions,
- working with Modifiers to futher customize your composables,
- State management and how to hoist your state to create stateless reusable components
- you even learned some Kotlin languagge basics, including concepts like variables and constants, if/else statements and type inference
- you rounded off by learning about the Kotlin Standard Library and the amazing tools it gives you out of the box so you dont have to reinvent the wheel for common operations.
You combined all these to create a simple but fun and interactive game called Bulleye.
That was a LOT in a very short period of time!
But you did it!!! You created your first app and learned so much along the way.
Now, its okay if you didnt understand everything we’ve covered in this course…especially the Kotlin parts.
We’ll keep going through them as we continue building the rest of the Bullseye app and as we go further down the Android and Kotlin for Beginners learning path.
The next course in our learning path is “Your First Kotlin Android App: Polishing the App”
In that course, we take things from where we left off here and implement all of the “nice to have” features. Basically we go from the app in the upper left, to the app in the lower right. Pretty awesome, right?
By the time you’re done with the next course, you’ll have a firm understanding of the basics of Android development, and you’ll be ready to continue with our learning path, where you’ll dive deep into the Kotlin Language itself.
But for now - sit back, take a break, and celebrate your accomplishment of making your first Android app.
That’s it for this one. I’ll see you in the next course.
