Programming in Swift: Functions & Types

You’ve learned about three kinds of named types so far: Structures, Classes, and Enumerations. You will learn about one more, the Protocol, in the next part. There are some things that all of those types have in common, other than having names.

In this part of the course, we’ll study two of them: properties and methods! As you may recall, properties are what a type has and methods are what a type can do.

All named types can have properties and methods, but the specifics differ, a little.Over the rest of this course, we’ll explore all of your options for properties and methods, and how they’re used in each kind of Named Type.

In this part, we’ll largely focus on implementing properties and methods in Structures and Enumerations, but all of what you’ll learn here also applies, in some way, to Classes and Protocols.
