Programming in Dart: Control Flow & Collections

At this point, you have all the tools necessary to control your program flow.

You’ve made another step closer to understanding Dart. Now we move back to collections.

Collections are a critical part of learning any programming language. Dart is no exception. You’ve seen how how you can use list to store well - a list of information. And that’s important for instance if you were creating a todo list app or a grocery list app. But that’s only one type of collection.

In this part, you’ll be introduced to two other collections that form the foundation of what you’ll be using in your programs. Mind you, there are lots of other collection classes which you should definitely explore once you have a firm understanding of the language.

We start off this part with an introduction to the Map. You’ll learn how to create them and add items to it.

Then, you’ll learn how to retrieve items from map and how to work with them. Maps are somewhat different List so they are going to seem a little strange, but they’ll make sense soon enough.

Once you have a firm understanding a maps, you’ll dive into the world of sets. Sets are like lists but provide a lot of other features.

Then you’ll learn the various operations that you can use on sets.

And that will be enough to get the ball rolling not to mention several challenges mixed in with the bunch. So let’s get started with an introduction to maps.
