Update 6/26/13: The technical editor positions have been filled for now. If anything opens up, we will post again. Thank you very much to all who volunteered – we really appreciate your kindness!
If you are an advanced-level iOS developer looking for a way to get more involved in the community, we have an opportunity for you!
We are currently looking for 1-2 additional technical editors. As a technical editor, you would review tutorials when they are submitted by authors, helping to ensure technical accuracy and high quality.
There are many great reasons to be a technical editor for raywenderlich.com:
-
You’ll become a better developer. Being a technical editor forces you to carve out learning time in your schedule, which can be difficult to do otherwise, due to the demands of a day job.
-
You’ll become a better writer. By reviewing tutorials, you will also learn a lot about writing. Both from helping other authors improve, and from learning from other fellow editors.
-
You’ll get a lot of exposure. You’ll get to know each member of the Tutorial Team, their experience level and writing style, and work with me and the other editors more closely than just about anyone else. These contacts may prove to be invaluable, and will likely lead to some special opportunities!
-
You’ll get paid! We do pay a significant amount for each tech edit performed, and you get a ton of free stuff for joining too. So basically, you’re getting paid to learn! :]
This is an informal, part-time position – you’d be editing about 1-3 tutorials per month and can work at your own pace.
If you think you might be interested in this, keep reading for more details!
Requirements
As I mentioned in the beginning, we are currently looking for advanced-level iOS developers only. You should have made several apps on your own using a variety of APIs and techniques, and should be well read and up-to-date with your knowledge.
Note that technical editing for this site is different from technical editing you may have done in the past. For our tutorials, you’ll take a “hands on/value added” approach, actively testing and improving the tutorial so it reaches the high level of quality we expect.
We are looking for you to be able to inject your battle-worn knowledge and insights into each tutorial you tech edit, so again experienced developers only please!
How To Apply?
If you think you’ve got what it takes to be a technical editor at raywenderlich.com, please contact me and let me know your level of iOS experience, along with links to any apps you have made.
Thanks for your consideration!
